Q: Do I need anything special to view the self-quizzes or the videos?
A: You need to have Flash Player installed in the browser you are using. The vast majority of browsers already have this installed, but if you’re having trouble, we suggest going to download and install the Flash Player from here: Adobe Flash Player download
Q: What’s the best way to view the videos?
A: You can expand the video to full screen by clicking on the full screen icon next to the video progress bar. Hitting escape brings the video back to normal size. We’ve tried to keep the videos in high resolution so that you can see the ECG details. But because the videos are such high resolution, you need a decent connection (DSL, cable, or better) for optimal viewing. If you connection is not as strong, you might notice some latency here and there.
Q: How do I change my password to something I can remember?
A: Use the link labeled ‘Site admin’ on the right side under ‘Meta’. Then click on ‘Profile’ on the left, and you should be able to choose a new password on that page.
Q:How do I sign up to receive updates on comments or posts so I don’t have to check back to see if there is anything new?
A:You may want to sign up for the RSS feeds (see RSS links on the righthand side of the page). If you’re not familiar with RSS, here’s a nice page from Google describing what it is and how to get going:Feed 101. Ignore the title of that page; it’s relevant, and there is a nice section listing some feed readers near the bottom of the page. If you already have a gmail account, Google Reader is simple to set up, but there are plenty of others.
Q: Why label the ECGs with numbers if the numbers don’t correspond to suggested viewing order?
A: This setup was chosen for a couple of reasons: 1) it makes it easy to refer to a specific ECG or to come back to one just by typing the number in the search box; and 2) it also makes it easier for you to take the self-quizzes without us spoiling the surprise by having the diagnoses in the title of the post.
